Diethylene glycol (DEG) is used in the oil and gas industry mainly as a liquid desiccant to dehydrate natural gas, helping prevent hydrate formation and corrosion in pipelines and processing equipment. It can also be used as a solvent and additive in some drilling and refinery operations.
It can be applied in both offshore and onshore gas-dehydration units to prevent hydrates, free-water condensation, and corrosion in pipelines and process equipment.
Raw material for polyester resins, polyurethanes, and plasticizers (used in plastics, fiberglass, coatings).
Solvent and solvent-coupler in inks, paints, dyes, and printing formulations.
Component in antifreeze, heat-transfer fluids, and some deicing/industrial coolant formulations.
