Emulsifier
Emulsifiers
Emulsifiers are surfactant additives that allow oil and water to form a stable emulsion instead of separating.

- Offshore and onshore use
- Offshore: used as clear brine in deep sea wells for completion, workover and sometimes drilling to hold very high formation pressure safely.
- Onshore: used the same way in land wells needing very heavy clear fluid for pressure control and to avoid formation damage.
- Often blended with CaBr2/CaCl2 to fine-tune density and properties.
Primarily applied in oil & gas high-density drilling/completion fluids, and in radiation shielding and specialty chemical uses.
- Other Features
- Battery electrolytes (zinc–bromine batteries / flow batteries)
- Organic synthesis and catalysis
- Radiation shielding and specialty glasses
- Pharmaceutical intermediates
- Flame retardants and polymer additives
