- Added to water-based drilling muds to stabilize water-sensitive shales, reduce swelling, and prevent borehole collapse in land wells.

- Used in offshore water-based muds drilling through reactive marine shales to inhibit hydration and maintain wellbore stability in deviated and deep wells
- Other Field Application:
- Major potash fertilizer supplying potassium for crop growth and stress resistance.
