Rheology modifiers
Rheology modifiers
Rheology modifiers are additives that control how a fluid flows (viscosity, gel strength, yield point) so it behaves correctly under different shear rates and temperatures.

- In drilling fluids (onshore & offshore)
- Give high viscosity at low shear to carry cuttings and prevent barite sag in high-angle/horizontal wells, especially in oil/synthetic-based muds.
- Allow “flat rheology” (good hole cleaning without excessive viscosity at high shear), reducing surge/swab, ECD and fluid losses while improving wellbore stability.
- Other Features
- Adhesives, sealants, cosmetics: Adjust body and texture so products spread easily but do not run or drip.
- Construction products: Modify flow and slump of cement, grouts and plasters for easier placement and better stability.
