Triethylene Glycol

Triethylene Glycol (TEG)

TEG (Triethylene Glycol) is widely used in the oil and gas industry as a liquid desiccant to dehydrate natural gas, protecting pipelines and process equipment from hydrate formation and corrosion. In a contactor tower, wet gas flows upward while TEG flows downward, absorbing water from the gas; the rich TEG is then regenerated by heating and reused. Outside oil and gas, TEG is used in air-drying systems, as a solvent and humectant in industrial fluids and personal care products, and as a component in some plasticizers and specialty chemicals.
